Belgrade

Back to Barcelona after 10 amazing days in Belgrade.
My first attraction for the city was, mainly, due to all the people, to the Serbians I was meeting while traveling, for their joy, their craziness, all the people from the Balkans that I've been meeting were always great. Sense of humor very similar to the portuguese, totally crazy, "very ahead". It was time to check it there.
After the first days I was asked what I was thinking about the city... I couldn't lie. A bit grey, not very taken care of, a lot of buildings crying for some attention, specially around the city centre, but none of this seemed to affect the people from there, totally in tune with my previous expectations. Everyone's meeting friends outside, going to coffees, going out, very honest regarding feelings, and also sneaky as a south european can be. Oh, and they love Portugal and Brasil...! :) Simply amazing!
But, to oppose to my first impression, the weather changed completely after the first days, it changed to sunny, warm, and the city also changed... the parks that seemed grey turned out to be very pleasant, the zone around the city walls and the castle, Kalemegdan, just beautiful, the floating bars along the rivers (Sava and Danube) a cool chill out.

Basically, is one of those places where you just need 2 or 3 days to "see" the city, but what attaches one there are the people, and then the real discovery starts... those are the ones that make me want to stay there, that make me want to return. A very different place that hooked me since the first day :)

As soon as I have some pics I'll put them online.

As i see (or to be more accurate: as I read)I got exactly the same first impression about Belgrade: it appeared to me a bit gray and forgotten by all that hectic life style the rest of Europe is facing at the moment. but later i just noticed that all these gray buildings are hiding more than just that sad part of history Serbia used to see not so far ago. I would love to see Belgrade in ten years.
